John Maginnis post war
Rifleman John Maginnis volunteered for the Commandos whilst serving in the Royal Ulster Rifles. He joined No.12 Commando and after it was disbanded moved to No.6 Commando. Post war member of the Commando Association from Titchfield, Hampshire.
His son John adds "Mac passed away on the 21st January 1985 at the age of 67. He was born in 1918 in Belfast and joined the RUR and then onto 6 and 12 Commando. It was a sad 3 years for our families as William Eager also a commando died in 1984 and Sam Brodison MM died in 1986. These 3 all married sisters in Titchfield where they were billeted, just 2 miles from Warsash where D Day started from." Follow this link to view Photos of Rfn Maginnis from his son John.
His son John goes on to say "I've always been very proud of my family history and the armed forces of this country, Macs brother Sammy Maginnis was Royal Irish Fusiliers then SAS who died in Malayasia in the 60s."
