TURNBULL, John Hugh Stephenson
Major John Turnbull MC and bar assumed command of No 1 Commando at Myebon on the 10th February 1945 after the departure of Lt. Col. K.R.S. Trevor [view]. . He had been awarded the MC whilst a T/Captain in No 1 Commando in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in North Africa. . In April 1945 it was announced in Gazettes that Temporary Major Turnbull M.C. had been awarded a bar to his MC in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in Burma. . Post war he was promoted full Major on the 10th January 1952 , he remained in military service with the Gordon Highlanders until retiring on the 13th May 1961 and being granted the honorary rank of Lieutent Colonel. .
