Rfn. Martin was killed during operations at Walcheren. Originally it was believed that Rfn Martin served in No 4 Commando which has now been found to be incorrect. Whilst the CWGC database did not show Commando service, their Grave Registration report did.

The CWGC state "We were advised by the RHQ The Cameronians, via the Ministry of Defence, in June 1986 that James Martin was a member of the 6th Bn. Cameronians and not No.4 Commando, and this reference was ultimately removed from the database. Their records show that he was reported missing presumed drowned and that his body was found by No.4 Commando and the report of his death submitted by them."

His details have been retained on file here for future reference.
