Sapper James Hamilton was reported wounded and missing 17 March 1943 during operations in North Africa, later presumed died of wounds. He has no known grave. Son of Alexander and Catherine Hamilton, of Thornliebank, Glasgow.

10.05.1940 embarked for Norway with No.2 Independent Company (Scissors Force).
18.11.1940 to 1 Special Service Bn.
04.03.1941 to No.1 Commando (Special Service restructuring).
03.07.1941 admitted Ballochmyle Hospital (Vincent's infection - tonsils).
07.08.1941 discharged hospital to No.1 Commando.
18.10.1941 admitted Onich Military Hospital, Fort William (thigh injury).
06.11.1941 discharged hospital to No.1 Commando.
13.10.1942 embarked for North Africa with No.1 Commando.
