Private Jack Keith was reported missing 26 February 1943 during operations at El Arousa, Tunisia (Battle of Steamroller Farm), later confirmed wounded and a prisoner of war. He had enlisted on 15 August 1940. Private Keith escaped 3 times, the first in Tunis, recaptured after one hour; the second whilst outside a working camp factory in Blechhammer in August 1944, recaptured after two days; the third and successful escape was in February 1945 after which he joined Polish and later Czech Partisan Groups.
