Lance Corporal John Hunter, 5 troop, was killed in action during operations at Dragone Hill, Salerno, and was originally buried by the 6th Yorks and Lancs. However his grave was never again found.
John Edmund Hunter of The Crescent, Hall Lane, Horsforth, was an old boy of Aireborough Grammar School, and later a clerical officer with the Inland Revenue in London. He was a Territorial with the London Rifle Brigade and previously served in Norway and Malta. His wife was a Corporal in the WAAFs.
