Troop Sergeant Major Harwood Beaven was awarded the Military Medal for bravery and great devotion to duty whilst operating with the Allied Armies in North-West Europe.
- 1946/47 serving in a Commando Training team attached to the French Commando School in Algiers*.
- 1948 awarded the Croix de Guerre with Silver Star by the French Government *.
