Corporal Gerald East, No.4 Commando, was wounded 6 June 1944 (remaining on duty) during operations at Normandy, France. Also served in No.3 Commando and 1 Commando Brigade.
In 1939 Gerald was a Police Constable residing at 72 Ridley Road, Forest Gate, London, with his wife Edna. He volunteered for the Commandos and was part of the 1st Police Intake at the Commando Depot in 1942.
