Lance Corporal Ernest Finch died during operations at Salerno, Italy, this date being that of the action in the valley south of La Molina and the nearby hills close to Vietri. He has no known grave. Son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Finch, of Guildford, Surrey. In 1939 before his military service he was employed as a Carpenter and Joiners apprentice residing at Stockton Road, Guildford.
