Cemetery/Memorial: 
Lieutenant Edward Curtis, 'B' troop, died of wounds received during operations at Normandy, France. Son of Edward James Curtis and Jane Curtis, of Frizinghall, Bradford, Yorkshire. Edward Curtis was from Frizinghall, Bradford, and an old boy of Belle Vue High School and Bradford Technical College. In civilian life he worked for a wool merchant in Bradford. Served in MNBDO 2 prior to Commando. Areas of service included Iceland, Dakar, Sicily, and Italy, before returning to the UK in February 1944. The following month he joined the new 48RM Commando being raised in preparation for DDay.
Extract from the No.48 RM Commando War Diary
"6 June 1944 Langrune, 1300 hrs. 'B' troop reports "Deathshead" clear, they had found it unoccupied, and suffered only one casualty (Lt.Curtis) wounded by own naval supportive fire."
