Colour Sergeant Lang 45 Commando

Colour Sergeant Dennis Lang received the Queen's Commendation for Bravery following a traffic accident in Norway on 18th January 1999.
Extract from the Globe and Laurel
"CSgt Lang's Commendation was for clambering into a wrecked BV206 to help its trapped, injured driver, Mne Andrew Dorward, after the vehicle had skidded, toppled over a crash barrier and tumbled into a steep gulley during our Norway deployment, in January 1999. The BV's front cab had been destroyed and Mne Dorward was bent double in the passenger footwell with his legs protruding through the broken windscreen.
CSgt Lang climbed down to Mne Dorward, reassured him, and with what ropes were available tried to secure the vehicle, then climbed into the BV to give what medical help he could and to protect the injured man from the cold (-15°C), staying with him until the emergency services arrived an hour later. Mne Dorward subsequently made a full recovery and returned to duty."
