Charles Kenneth Rolfe joined the Manchester Police on 10 August 1938 and in 1939 was a Police Constable living in Urmston. He volunteered for the Commandos enlisting 23 July 1942 as part of the 2nd Police Intake to the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry. Gunner Charles Rolfe was attached to No.6 Commando on 24 September 1942. He was reported missing on 7 June 1944 during operations at Sallenelles, Normandy, later found to be a prisoner of war. Post war member of the Commando Association.
