Lance Corporal Camille Allard, 1st Batallion Fusiliers Marins Commando, attached to No 4 Commando, died during operations in the Netherlands.
The No 4 Commando War Diary for May 7th 1945 records " Halstern - No 7 french troop moved to Schouwen and established HQ at Bruinisse, and to clear and mark all minefields in that area." (Source: War Diary National Archives WO 218/ 84.)
His death is notified as "killed by the explosion of a mine while on patrol. KIA 8-5-45, Netherlands, buried 11-5-45 at Sint Philipsland. Transferred 19-11-49,Bordeaux,Gironde. " (Source: website ecole.nav.traditions,free fr/cdo.)
