Captain Alistair Savage was reported wounded and missing 2 June 1941 during operations in Crete, later found to be a prisoner of war [1][2][3]. He was initially held in Carcere Penale Badia, Italy [2], before being transported to Germany.
31 January 1946 (London Gazette) Mention in Despatches in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in the Field [4].
30 August 1947 promoted Major [5]
7 January 1949 (London Gazette) Mention in Despatches in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in Palestine between 27 September 1945 - 26 March 1946 [6].
