Albertus De Jong 2 Troop 10 Commando
Private Albertus De Jong, 2 Troop (Dutch) No.10 (Inter Allied) Commando, died when his jeep crashed into a ditch at Apeldoorn, a town in the centre of Holland. 
  • September/October 1944 recruited in the South of Holland when that was liberated to form what became known as The First Reinforcement consisting of 72 men.
  • November 1944 to January 1945 successfully completed his training at the Commando Basic Training Centre, Achnacarry, during which he and another Dutchman came fifth in the Sturgess Cup Competition. 
  • Joined No 2 Dutch troop in operations at Hollands Diep, a large waterway in the South of Holland, and later at Recklinghausen, Germany.
