Marine Wheeler,  'A' Troop, was wounded 23 January 1945 by enemy machine gun fire during operations at Brachterbeek. His Section Officer, Lieutenant Robert Cory, and  Marine Wales were also wounded. Marine Frederick Wales later died of his wounds.

Marine Sidney Wilson of 10 Priory Road Cambridge died from burns sustained when a military truck in which he was travelling overturned and caught fire at Broadbridge Heath near Horsham. Twenty three other Royal Marines were injured.
