In 1946 the Army Council decided that the Army Commandos were to be disbanded and no provision was allowed or made for any depository or office which would have at least contained a complete Roster of Names of the men who served in the various units.
3 troop, also referred to as the miscellaneous troop and X troop, consisted solely of German speaking refugees, many who were of the Jewish Faith. They included different nationalities, primarily German and Austrians, but also Hungarians and Czech's.

Hans Arenstein served under an alias of Harry Andrews. He was of the Jewish Faith and a member of 3 troop, also known as 'X' troop, of the inter allied commando. He was attached to 47RM Commando at the time of his death.
nb. The date of death (10th) has been confirmed with the CWGC as being correct.
George Bryan Barth, an Austrian refugee, served in 3 troop, also known as 'X' troop, under an alias of Streets. He was killed in a traffic accident whilst on a course at OCTU. He had previously served in 3 troop as a Sergeant.
Captain John Coates, attached SOE, was awarded the Distinguished Service Order in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in the Field.
"Captain Coates was dropped by parachute into Hungary on September 13th, 1944 in command of a small group with a special mission. Through the arrest of one of his party he was captured and imprisoned.
Gunther Max Frank died during operations at Normandy on D Day. He served under an alias of George Mack Franklyn in 3 troop, also known as 'X' troop, of the inter allied commando.
Kurt Joachim Glaser served in 3 troop, also known as 'X' troop, under the name of Keith James Griffith. He was shot and killed by a sniper during operations with 1 Special Service Bde. to cross a railway bridge over the River Aller near the town of Essel.
Corporal Ian Harris, born Hans Hajos, attached to No 10 (Inter Allied) Commando 3 troop ('X' troop), was awarded the MM in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in North West Europe.
Otto Hess served in 3 troop, also known as 'X' troop, of the inter allied commando under
Eugen Kagerer-Stein, an Austrian, served in 3 troop, also known as 'X' troop, under an alias of Eugene Fuller. He died during operations with 47RM Commando at Normandy.
Kurt Meyer served under an alias of Peter Moody. He was of the Jewish Faith and a member of 3 troop, also known as 'X' troop, of the inter allied commando. He was killed during operations in Normandy whilst attached to 47RM Commando.
Salo Weich, an Austrian of Jewish faith, served in 3 troop, also known as 'X' troop, of the inter allied commando under an alias of Robert Geoffrey Hamilton. He was killed during operations with 41RM Commando at Walcheren.
